Join us for Sunday Screening: Short Films Showcase at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 16, in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums. This showcase will feature “Hotaru,” “(I'm Not) Your Negroni,” and “Our Rebellious Hearts.” All three short films are collectively under an hour and explore themes of identity, change, and resilience. On Mondays at noon, the Eudora Welty House & Garden will host live book discussions of Jesmyn Ward's 2017 novel, Sing, Unburied, Sing as part of its Welty at Home Virtual Book Club program. Welty's friend and biographer Suzanne Marrs will co-lead the discussions with Kemeshia Swanson, professor of English and African American Studies at Mississippi State University. Join us for a screening of Always a Winner: Roy Curry, A Quarterback Ahead of His Time at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 26, in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums. Directed by Seth Schwartz, the one-hour film tells the story of Roy Curry who grew up as the son of sharecroppers in Lula, Mississippi. He played quarterback for his high school in Clarksdale, then at Jackson State University, and went on to play two seasons as a wide receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL.
