The 2022 Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, on the Entergy Plaza in front of the Two Mississippi Museums. The program will include a performance by the 41st Army Band, a moment of silence, recognition of the veterans in attendance and of fallen heroes by Major General Janson D. Boyles—the Adjutant General of the Mississippi National Guard. A memorial volley and wreath laying will follow.
At noon on Wednesday, September 28, Michelle Johansen, Muriel Lucas, Mary Carter, Maggie Crawford, and Georgene Clark will present “The Delta State University Sit-in” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H.
At noon on Wednesday, September 21, Aram Goudsouzian and Vijay Shah will present “Man on a Mission: James Meredith and the Battle of Ole Miss” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H.
At noon on Wednesday, September 14, Douglas Richardson will present “Clinton and the 1835 Mississippi Slave Rebellion” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H.
At noon on Wednesday, September 7, Jennifer McGillan will present “Digitizing Legal Records of Enslaved Persons” as part of the History Is Lunch series. The program will take place in the Craig H.
Join us at 6 p.m. on Monday, January 16, for the annual MLK Night of Culture at the Two Mississippi Museums. This year's theme is inspired by the Black Empowerment gallery of the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum which highlights the unity and determination of Black Mississippians demanding their civil rights in the late 1960s. The Christmas by Candlelight Tour will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 2, at all MDAH sites.
Join us for a country music-themed trivia night on Thursday, September 1, to celebrate The World of Marty Stuart special exhibit at the Two Mississippi Museums. Cost of entry is $10 (cash only) per person and includes your first drink. Up to 6 people per team. We'll have a cash bar and light bar snacks. The first and second winning teams will be awarded a CASH prize. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the trivia begins at 6. Be sure to come early so you can go through The World of Marty Stuart special exhibit to prepare for our Marty Stuart themed round.
CANCELLED: The Wikipedia Edit-a-thon scheduled for September 23 has been cancelled. MDAH will work with the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative to reschedule this program.
