At noon Wednesday, November 5, professors Tammy Mielke and Michelle Martin will explore how their book, Song of the Land: Celebrating the Works of Mildred D. Taylor, brings together creative and critical responses to Taylor’s work and legacy as part of the History Is Lunch series. The chapters in this anthology highlight how Mildred D. Taylor’s works in African American children’s literature sparked conversations on race and resilience in the face of adversity. This program will take place in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums and will also stream live on the MDAH Facebook page and YouTube channel. Copies of Song of the Land will be available for sale with a book signing to follow. For more information, call 601-576-6850 or email info@mdah.ms.gov.
