History Is Lunch: "Sixty Years of Head Start"

Join us at noon on Wednesday, November 19, for History Is Lunch as teachers and students who helped lay the foundation for Head Start share their stories of the program’s early years. What began in 1965 as an experiment in early childhood education has grown into a nationwide program that today serves nearly 20,000 low-income children and families across Mississippi—and thousands more across the country. This program will take place in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums and will also stream live on the MDAH Facebook page and YouTube channel. Trick or Treat and Day of the Dead

Join us for Trick or Treat and Day of the Dead at the Two Mississippi Museums on Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Explore Mississippi’s history and Mexican heritage with our museum gallery guide, themed crafts and games, and a Dia de los Muertos cultural demonstration from members of the Mississippi Hispanic Association.

Ghosts in the Garden Scavenger Hunt

Join a monthlong scavenger hunt in the Eudora Welty House & Garden. Kids and kids-at-heart are invited to go on a Ghosts in the Garden Scavenger Hunt throughout the month of October. Visitors can pick up a scavenger hunt sheet from the Little Free Library.

Free Sundays at the Two Mississippi Museums
October 26, 2025, 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Admission to the Two Mississippi Museums is free every Sunday. This includes admission to the Hurricane Katrina: Mississippi Remembers, Photographs by Melody Golding on display through November 7. HORNE, a Ridgeland-based professional services firm, is the title sponsor of the exhibit.
