Due to a change in the speaker's availability, the program on Thursday, May 30, featuring Michael Cottman is being canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date.
Cottman was to discuss the years he spent researching the origin of the Henrietta Marie, an eighteenth-century English slave ship which capsized off the coast of Florida.
Artifacts recovered from the Henrietta Marie are featured in Spirits of the Passage: The Story of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, an exhibit that examines the forced migration of millions of Africans across the Middle Passage. Spirits of the Passage is on display in the FedEx and Medgar and Myrlie Evers Exhibition Halls at the Two Mississippi Museums.
