Image Arrangement and Numbering
Page numbers for the diary were assigned by the archivist at the time of processing to reflect original arrangement. Loose items were arranged after the diary, in order of most intimate to Black through least, e.g. handwritten poetry, followed by newspaper clippings.
The original scans of the Bettie Black Mayo Diary were made in 2017, according to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History Board of Trustees' approved imaging procedures, following ANSI/AIIM recommended practice. The images were scanned as uncompressed, 24-bit RGB at 600 pixels per inch.
For Web display, the original scans of the diary were converted to Zoomify JPEG files by the Electronic Archives Section.
